5 Tips to Win More Tenders

5-Tips-to-Win-More-Tenders.jpg

With so much competition to contend with in the construction industry, winning tenders can be an uphill battle. Here are 5 ways your business can win more work.

1. Follow Tender Instructions

It sounds simple, but you’d be surprised by how many businesses submit tender responses that simply don’t follow the instructions. Whether it’s using the tender response template provided, or supplying supporting documents, if you want to be seen as an organisation that pays attention to detail, always follow the instructions carefully.

2. Be Succinct and Use Visuals in Your Response

You may have lots of great information to share in your tender, but don’t get bogged down in wordy explanations. Your response should be clear and to the point. Visual diagrams, illustrations, graphs and charts can break up big blocks of text and bring an extra element to your bid.

3. Address the Selection Criteria

It’s tempting to create a generic tender response that you can repurpose multiple times. Using a generic response might save you time, but it’ll weaken your bids. Always create your response around the specific selection criteria of each tender.

4. Use References and Testimonials

References and testimonials are essential to a strong tender response, but using the wrong one can do more harm than good. Always make sure that your testimonials are relevant and suitable for the nature of the project. It’s best to use testimonials that highlight the specific kinds of skills that each tender requires.

5. Become Certified to Industry Standards

Some tenders require that your business is certified to industry standards like ISO 9001. However, even projects that don’t specify compliance requirements will look favourably on businesses who have dedicated themselves to quality systems and processes. Compliance to internationally recognized standards shows potential clients that your business is committed to providing the best products and services possible.
