The security of workers is a matter that should not be overlooked. Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) are elected members of an organisation who represent the health and safety interests of a 'work group' - groups of workers that are exposed to similar health and safety concerns and conditions - and who convey any issues to management.

However it may be useful to also consult workers about near misses when investigating incidents. Regular consultation is better than consulting on a case-by-case basis. This is because it allows you to identify and fix potential problems early.
