A bit about yourself and how you got into this passion of yours?
I love aviation and anything in relation to aviation, especially civil aviation. My father used to work for Iran Air and I grew up in a family where aviation was a topic all the time. In addition, as a kid, airplanes used to mean travelling to places that I hadn’t been before, this meant lots of excitement.
What do you like the most about aviation?
In an airplane, there are a number of things that need to work together perfectly to ensure that this huge metal bird arrives to the destination safely. This can not happen unless a perfect logistic system, reliable communication mechanism, comprehensive methods and standards and competent people work together. Flying above clouds with the near sonic speed demonstrates the power of humans, which is gained with knowledge and hardwork.
How do you spend time learning about aviation?
As I’m not a pilot yet and I cannot fly, I fulfil my passion with plane spotting around Sydney Airport. The most interesting one I find is Shep's Mound where I can spend hours looking at different aircrafts from different airlines, taking off and landing. I aspire to get the private pilot licence (PPL) in coming years. I also collect a number of die cast model plane of all shapes and sizes.
What lessons have you learnt from this skill and how do you use it to improve success in business?
- If we are travelling safe, it is because of analysing the root cause of all of incidents happened in the past. If an incident has happened for the first time, it was an incident; but if it happens for the second time it is a mistake.
- Aviation is one the symbol of collaboration of many people from all over the world. Without this level of communication, we can not fly safely.
- Wright brothers proved that everything assumed impossible is possible. Having the right approach and direction to ambition can make them a reality. The only restriction on humanity is the human’s mind.
